CAD is used on almost every project here, not just the complicated ones. A drawing turns a conversation into a specification: exact dimensions, material grade, hole positions, weld sizes and quantities, all agreed before money is spent on steel.

It also produces a permanent record. Two years later, when a second unit is needed or a part wears out, the file is there and the replacement matches exactly.

Catching problems on screen, not in steel

Interference, clearance and access problems are cheap to fix in a model and expensive to fix once a weldment is assembled. Bolt access, weld torch access and assembly order all get checked before fabrication.

Material use is also planned in CAD — nesting parts sensibly on stock sizes reduces waste and therefore reduces the quote.

From model to cut file

Flat profiles can be exported as CAM-ready files for profile cutting, with bend allowances applied so a folded part comes out to the intended finished dimension rather than the flat one.

Drawings are supplied to you as part of the job, so you own the documentation for whatever was built.

On site versus shop work

The site visit is where the design work really starts: real measurements of real conditions, photographs of mounting points, and confirmation of clearances with equipment in its working position.

Design and modelling then happen off site, and the drawing is sent for your approval before anything is cut. Nothing is fabricated on assumption.
